Chicago WordPress Meetup Group will celebrate it's two year anniversary with a WordPress Resource Fair for members and the general community on Saturday & Sunday November 13-14, 2010.

This event is FREE but limited to 150 attendees and you must register to get in.

The purpose of the event is to educate the community about WordPress; Help others get WordPress Websites and Blogs installed and launched; and to spread the WordPress Love and grow our WordPress community.

   This company claims to offer the best and "wierdest" tours in the city. Considering they are offering up a tours such as "Chicago Serial Killers" and "The Redlight District" I am inclined to believe them! They also of course offer the more traditional "Haunted Tour". All tours depart from the front Loading Zone of the Hard Rock Cafe, located at Clark & Ontario Streets.

Goose Island Tasting Event at Jewel in Southport October 22

On October 22nd join Goose Island at the Jewel in Southport to sample the Belgian style ales Matilda, Sofie, and Pere Jacques and imported cheeses. Founder and President John Hall will be in attendance. The event will take place from 4pm - 7pm!

To celebrate the upcoming 2010-11 season, the Chicago Bulls will “Paint the Town” by greeting fans and distributing pocket schedules on Monday, October 18 at Water Tower Place on North Michigan Avenue from 5 to 6 p.m.

The Bulls open their first regular season home game on Saturday, October 30 vs. Detroit at the United Center at 7 p.m.

Test Drive the Volvo 2011 S60 at Arlington Park This Weekend!

How would you like to test drive the new Volvo 2011 S60? Just head on over to Arlington Racetrack tomorrow or Sunday!
This is all part of the "Naughty Volvo Tour" in which Volvo has been making its way across the country offering up test drives.

You'll get the chance to drive on an autocross, in a slalom, in a cornering exercise, and over "suspension bumps". Participants will also be able to try their hand at Volvo's Pedestrian Detection system, which can activate the brakes if a driver fails to detect a pedestrian in front of the car.

Wal-Mart to offer free shipping to Chicago FedEx offices

Wal-Mart Stores will begin offering free delivery of purchases made through its Web site to Chicago FedEx offices in a move to reach urban consumers.

The "FedEx Site-to-Store service has already been rolled out in Boston and Los Angelos and is expanding to Chicago beginning this week!

Under the program, shoppers can order products from Walmart.com and have them shipped free to a local FedEx office for pick up. Wal-Mart already offers free shipping of online orders to its stores.

Reportedly 40 FedEx sites are participating in Chicago with a few in the suburbs!

Chicago - FREE Screenng for Celiac Disease 10/9 - Registration Required!

Every Fall the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center holds a FREE celiac blood screening day to test people who are at risk for celiac disease. Each year they test nearly 500 participants, who come from all over the country.

If you've had digestive problems or a chronic illness you may want to get tested...Celiac Disease has been linked to may chronic illnesses including Fibromyalgia!

In addition their panel of experts will take questions from the audience and exhibitors will showcase delicious gluten free products.

Pre-registration for the screening is mandatory. You may register by calling their office at (773) 702-7593. Registration opens on Monday, August 16, 2010. They will require a brief phone consultation before you register, to determine your eligibility.

The blood screening is held on the 4th Floor of the University of Chicago Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine
