Fun, Free & Frugal Events this Weekend!

Toys "R" Us – Head over to your local Toys-R-Us on Saturday 11am – 1 pm for a Thomas the Tank Engine Playdate. There will be giveaways, storytime and coloring fun!

Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Make and Take 9/11 at your local AC Moore Store, just stop by between 1pm & 3pm.!

Stop by your local Lakeshore Learning Center between 11:00 - 3:00 to make these Amazing Pop-Up Hangers! You can use them to display your child's artwork!

Your child can create a "Dog Leash" hanger 9/11 at Lowes Build & Grow Workshop! Each attendant will also receive a coupon for a FREE frosty at Wendy'!s. The workshop takes place at 10 a.m. Please visit the site to register for this class to ensure you get a spot.

Bass Pro Shop is hosting a FREE Family Weekend Event — This U.S. Army Celebration & Troop Event will feature a bean bag toass,  a paintball cage, free U.S Army Coloring sheets, remote control car races, and more! The first 200 people to donate an item during this event, will receive a Sportsman’s Racing Team poster. Items to be donated are gently used DVD's, video games and books that will be sent to our troops.

The first 25 to donate an item will receive a Sportsman’s Racing Team Poster signed by a driver!

Chicago Events:

FREE Concert Stars of Lyric Opera at Millennium Park here's your chance to hear some of the best the Lyric Opera hous has to offer for FREE! Come and hear overtures, arias and ensembles from from Donizetti’s La favorita, Verdi’s Macbeth, Un ballo in maschera, Simon Boccanegra, and La forza del destino, Puccini’s La bohème and much more. The concert will take place at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion Saturday 9/11 from 7:30 pm - 10 pm!

The Chalet Nursery in Wilmette --->  will be offering an all day Gardening Educational Event! It starts at 6am and goes until 5pm!

From 6am - 9am  Meet Lou Manfredini, broadcasting his WGN AM radio program "Mr. Fix It" live from Chalet

Here's just some highights of the festivities:

• Learn with presentations every half hour on the Main Stage - design, lighting, patios, decks, tree care, lawn care, containers, plantings, more (9:30am to 3:00pm)
• Get advice and answers from 13 professional and award-winning Chalet landscape architects and designers
• Get design consultations and even design sketches for your outdoor space

This FREE admission event takes place September 10-12th at Toyota Park in Bridgeview and is hosted by Chuck’s Southern Comforts Café in Burbank. Come and enjoy largest and best Louisiana-style food and music festivals in the area!  You will pay for the food and drinks but admission and parking are FREE!

Taste portions – all prepared on site for freshness and flavor – will include jambalaya, gumbo, muffalettas, fried alligator, po’ boys, fish and pork tacos, and BBQ, all of which visitors can wash down with Hurricanes, Margaritas and any of 11 beers.
