Target Accused Of Ripping Off Coupon Users

Have you ever noticed that the full value of a coupon has not come off during a transaction at Target? Well, maybe you should pay more attention because it happens often!

Amy Gunderson, of Oakdale, said she started noticing that Target stores weren't redeeming her coupons to the full amount. A camera crew from a local station actually documented it during one of her shopping trips!

It happened to me yesterday, a $3.00 coupon was coming off at $1.87 instead of the full value...luckily I caught it but as I had 4 of them during two transactions it took 15 minutes to fix!

Also keep an eye on the shelf price vs. the price you're paying. I love Target, but I find that there's a discrepancy pretty often. Just yesterday the formula I bought rang up as $2 more than the shelf price. I caught it on my way out the store, but it took 10 minutes to get the refund of the difference!

It happened to me too this week. The $2.50 off 3 Huggies wipes only came off $1.99 (the price of one tub of wipes). I thought it was a computer error.

It's nice to see some attention focused on this issue. I posted about it a while back http://www.buildingshangrila.com/2010/06/is-target-committing-coupon-fraud-or-is.html and encouraged readers to keep a close eye on how their coupons ring up. However even when we watch closely, we don't always get proper credit. At my Target they say the coupons are adjusting to the price of the item and they could not override how coupons ring up.

Wow! Thanks for posting this. I just read in a forum last week of this happening to someone.

I am so glad that attention has been brought to this. I actually rarely shop at Target anymore because they can't seem to get the coupon situation in order.
